Seashore Academy is a private academy supporting the needs of those who want the academic excellence and structured environment of private education with the freedom and flexibility of homeschooling.
Inspired by the strong foundation of a classical education, we pride ourselves on our robust English Language Arts curriculum, including grammar and writing skills. We offer hands-on Mathematics, Science, and interpretive Global History, which incorporates American history. We also teach modern grit-building classes such as Entrepreneurship, Financial Management, Public Speaking, and World Art Masters. Students have the opportunity to engage in foreign languages such as Chinese and Spanish.
By placing children in cohorts according to ability instead of age, we adjust our model to best suit the child. We believe that the appropriate level of challenge is critical for optimum brain development. Too many challenges can become frustrating, and too easy a curriculum can become boring; we have seen otherwise distracted children become hyper-focused when placed in a more challenging learning environment.
We average 15:1 students per teacher and we are committed to maintaining small class sizes.
You will receive individualized weekly and trimester progress reports from Seashore Academy. To receive an official transcript, many of our families register with our partner,a non-classroom-based charter school. This non-classroom-based public charter school can serve as your official school of record, and your child may homeschool with you or attend Seashore 1-5 days/week. Seashore Academy is not a private school; we are officially a learning center for legally homeschooled students.
Your child’s teachers will send out individual scorecards every week for those enrolled in core academic classes and monthly for Entrepreneurship classes. These updates provide information about the activities covered in class, including specific chapters, pages, and other relevant details.
Students are dropped off between 9:10 – 9:25, and all teachers and staff are available to greet families and chat briefly. They say the pledge of allegiance at 9:25, open with a gratitude prayer, and start classes at 9:30. We have four academic classes per day, plus two half-hour recess periods. We end the day at 2:45, with a rolling pick-up time until 3:00 each day.
Uniforms are mandatory at Seashore Academy. Official uniforms can be purchased from our official store. Click this to go to our shop. The goal of both these policies is to keep our students focused on good values and on academics.
Seashore students, with very few exceptions, are not allowed to use Chromebooks, cell phones, smart watches, or tablets on campus. We teach in the traditional manner with pencil and paper.
Our staff is on site between 8 AM and 4 PM.
We offer some early morning and late afternoon extracurricular activities, which are published in the parent portal at the start of each academic year. Drop-off is between 9:10–9:25 AM, and pick-up is between 2:45–3:00 PM.
Our founder started Seashore Academy after experiencing firsthand how traditional education often doesn’t support real family needs.
She imagined a place where kids could flourish without screens, and parents wouldn’t be forced to choose between their values and their children’s schooling.
Today, Seashore is that place — and it’s growing into something even bigger.
