Seashore’s outdoor academic preschool combines early childhood education with a focus on outdoor learning experiences. We provide a unique approach to preschool education by utilizing our outdoor environments as the primary learning space.
The main philosophy behind our outdoor academic preschool is to foster children’s development and learning through nature-based experiences. Seashore children are engaged in hands-on exploration, discovery, and play in natural settings.
Nature-based Learning
Our early childhood program emphasizes the importance of nature in a child's education. Science, math, and phonics concepts are taught out of doors.
Active Learning
Outdoor environments offer ample space for physical activity, which is essential for children's holistic development. Children engage in active play, gross and fine motor activities, and sensory experiences that promote their physical coordination, strength, and overall well-being.
Hands-on Experiences
Our outdoor academic early childhood program focuses on experiential learning, where children learn through direct interaction with their surroundings. They can engage in activities like scientific nature exploration, art, and singing that promote creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Social-emotional Development
Seashore's settings provide a rich social environment where children can interact with their peers, develop communication and collaboration skills, and learn to navigate social relationships. Being in nature also promotes a sense of calmness, reduces stress, and enhances emotional well-being.
Patriotism
Seashore's patriotic curriculum involves learning the pledge of allegiance, singing patriotic songs, wearing red, white, and blue uniforms, and learning about creating community. Our children develop a respect for country, service, freedom, and honor.
Health and Well-being
Our outdoor academic program encourages an active and healthy lifestyle. Children benefit from fresh air, natural light, and exposure to sunlight, which promotes vitamin D synthesis. Spending time outdoors also helps to reduce sedentary behavior; we do not allow students to be on screens at any age on any of our campuses.
Seashore’s outdoor academic preschool may also incorporate elements of traditional indoor classrooms, especially during rainy or hot weather conditions. Seashore’s outdoor academic preschool offers a unique and holistic approach to early childhood education, combining academic learning with nature-based experiences to foster children’s physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development.
Classroom Hours: 9:30AM – 2:15PM
Application Fee (Year 2023-2024):
ECE – a one-time non-refundable $145 application fee per student
Enrollment Fee (Year 2023-2024):
ECE – a non-refundable $250 per student
General Supplies Fee (Year 2023-2024):
ECE – $250 supplies fee for one student
July 1 – April 1 Installment plan (10 months)
Cooperative Maintenance Fees are based on number of days/week and cover the cost of insurance, lead teachers, administrative support, and facilities.
Seashore’s Early Childhood Education Program is a Cooperative and does not charge tuition.
Parents are assigned volunteer duties on a rotating basis. Parents may opt out of a shift and/or opt to volunteer for additional shifts as desired. All volunteers must be fingerprinted and background checked.
